Complex medical and social assistance is given to all people who can be considered victims of torture, regardless of nationality, age, gender, political orientation, residence, etc., according to art. 1 of the Convention against Torture (UN CAT).
Upon registration, eligible persons present documents confirming their status: an identification card issued by the competent bodies and institutions, including local public administration; a Rehabilitation Certificate issued by relevant institutions or other documents issued by NGOs and state institutions.
Target groups:
The Survivors of Political Repression, who were persecuted, abused and subjected to various forms of physical and psychological torture during the Soviet period. This group is relevant for the analysis and documentation of the medical and psychological consequences of different forms of torture and the impact of trauma on various aspects of the personal, family, social and political lives of survivors. The information about and experience with this group allows us to plan more effective and comprehensive assistance to recent victims of torture in order to prevent belated consequences and pathologies correlated with stress and suffered trauma.
Recent victims of torture, such as survivors of violence and inhuman/degrading treatment in detention facilities, including people who have suffered from the events of April 2009. This group requires special attention in order to improve their current health status and to prevent belated sequels of trauma.
Victims of torture among refugees and asylum seekers in Moldova. This group allows us to perform an analysis of torture phenomena and its impact at the regional and global level as well as the individual level through different aspects: political, religious, cultural, medical, social and psychological. Among the countries of origin of refugees and asylum seekers are: Turkey, Cote d'Ivoire, Somalia, Kazakhstan, Yemen, Uzbekistan, Palestine and other countries.
Victims of gender-based violence and their families, who decided to claim their stories and addressed other NGOs for legal/social assistance such as: Shelter for abused women “Casa Marioarei”, Promo-LEX, Human Right Embassy, Public Lawyers, etc. We provide this target group with complex assistance, according to individual programs, and with documentation of their cases, using the Istanbul Protocol in order to support them in courts. Our team members have experience in assisting traumatized people and can easily adapt the rehabilitation model used until present to this target group.
Within available resources and if necessary, second degree victims- close relatives of survivors- are assisted.
